Amber Olsen, President

Amber is the mother to Willow Cannan, diagnosed with Multiple Sulfatase Deficiency, an ultra rare, fatal genetic condition. Since this diagnosis, Amber formed the United MSD Foundation travelling the world to find a treatment to help the children with this devastating disease. She is chief fundraising officer for the organization and will not stop until enough money is raised to bring research into the clinic for the children with MSD. Amber and her husband, Tom Cannan, have resided in the beautiful and giving community of South Mississippi for the last 18 years. They have 3 wonderful daughters, Kylee 14, Jenna 10 and Willow 3 years old.

In her professional career, Amber started Nextaff Gulf Coast in Ocean Springs, MS in 2007 and Red Water Staffing in Mandeville, LA in 2016. Both companies offer recruiting services for businesses in South Mississippi and Alabama. Amber is certified by the Human Resource Certification Institute as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and by the Society for Human Resource Management as a Senior Certified Professional in Human Resources (SHRM-SCP).

Prior to 2007, Amber was the Chief Operating Officer of Keystone Capital Management. She is originally from Missoula, Montana where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Business in 1998. Amber has held various community leadership positions including past President of the Singing River Charter Chapter American Business Women’s Organization, Past President of the Ocean Springs Rotary Club, Past President of the Gulf Coast Human Resource Association, Gulf Coast Chamber Board Member, and founder of Women Entrepreneurs Gulf Coast (now a program of the MS Gulf Coast Chamber).


Todd Villarrubia, Vice President

Todd earned a Master’s Degree (LL.M) in Tax Law from Emory University, is a Board Certified Expert in Estate Planning and Administration as determined by the Louisiana Board of Legal Specialization, and is admitted to practice before the United States Tax Court.  He is a member of the Louisiana Bar Association, NAIFA, Atticus, Advisors Forum, Wealth Counsel, Elder Counsel and the New Orleans Estate Planning Council.  Todd also serves on the board for the EP Louisiana (Entrepreneurs Organization) and the Jefferson Charter Foundation.  Todd regularly provides continuing education presentations to attorneys, CPA’s, financial advisors and the public including at Money Watch Live, National Business Institute, Louisiana CPA Society, AICPA, Tulane Estate Planning Institute, the LSU annual Estate Planning Seminar, Nichols Estate and Business Planning Institute, and NAIFA.  Todd is qualified by the Louisiana Department of Insurance to present continuing education accredited presentations covering numerous business, tax, and estate planning topics.  Todd was named one of the top 100 estate planning attorneys in the country by Worth magazine. Todd is the father of 2 daughters and resides in New Orleans, Louisiana.

John Ewen, Retired Senior Scientist with the Central Intelligence Agency, father of Barbara Ewen, oldest known patient with MSD 

John is the father of the late Barbara Ewen, who passed away in early 2017 from Multiple Sulfatase Deficiency. John has gathered MSD knowledge throughout the years and excited about being involved with bringing a treatment to the children with MSD. John and his wife, Kathleen live in Wisconsin and they have 3 other children. John is a retired Senior Scientist with the Central Intelligence Agency. He obtained his Bachelors degree in Psychology from the University of San Francisco, his Masters in Psychology from Pepperdine University and his PHD from Baylor University. His Post Doctoral training was in Sensory Biopsychology at Florida State University. John is US Army Veteran having served in the Vietnam War.



 Brian O’Halloran, Actor, Director, Producer

Brian is an Actor having appeared in over 40 movies. He connected with the Cannan family through a small short movie filmed in South Mississippi. He has a fascination with medical research and is inspired to do what he can through his social networks and connections to help the children with this ultra rare condition. He is best known for his roles his roles in Kevin Smith’s View Askewniverse films, notably as Dante Hicks in Smith’s debut film Clerks and its 2006 sequel, Clerks II.  Brian is also a stage actor having played numerous roles with  Boomerang Theatre Company, the New Jersey Repertory Company and the Tri-State Actors Theatre. He has produced and directed various film projects. He attended Middlesex County College and resides in Staten Island, NY.
